OUR JOURNAL

The moments, milestones and faces of LookUp SA, written down as they happen.

The story continues

Every young person adds a page.

Every young person who walks through our doors adds a page to our story. This journal is where we keep it: workshops and visits, small wins and big milestones, the partners who make it possible, and the lessons we're learning along the way. Some entries are long, some are just a photo and a few words. All of them are real.

We all use our phones every day. But consuming technology and using it to create opportunities are two very different things.

This month we encouraged young people to explore AI, research careers, take an online course and build something new, because the same phone that entertains you can also educate you.

We launched our LinkedIn page with a message at the heart of everything we do. Today's workplace rewards people who keep learning: digital skills, communication, problem-solving, adaptability.

A career isn't built on one thing you learned once. It's built on your ability to keep learning what comes next.

For young people without a laptop or data at home, a job search can stall before it begins. This month we shared what happens in our computer room every day: young people searching and applying for jobs, building skills online and finding opportunities they would otherwise never see.

We also released our first cover letter video lesson, breaking down how to write a letter that gets you noticed.

On Mandela Day we honoured Madiba's legacy the way we think he'd appreciate most: through learning. Young people joined our skills development training and spent the day investing in their own futures.

"Education is the most powerful weapon" isn't just a quote on our wall. It's how we work.

We started the year where so many job searches start: the CV. Our first lessons focused on the five things every strong CV needs, and on helping young people see their CV as more than a list.

It's their story, their journey and their potential, told in a way an employer can see at a glance. Since then, CV clinics have become one of the most requested things we do.
