A Durban non-profit for young people

LOOK UP.
THERE'S MORE AHEAD.

LookUp SA helps young people in and around Durban build the skills, habits and self-belief to take their next step, whether that's a first job, a first business, or simply the next thing worth learning.

A name with a direction

Every year, thousands of young people in eThekwini finish school, or leave before they finish, and find there is no clear next step. No tertiary place. No job offer. No one to explain how the working world actually works. LookUp SA exists in that gap. We open our doors, our computer room and our network of mentors to young people who are ready to learn, and we help them build the practical skills and daily discipline that turn "I'm stuck" into "I'm ready".

Look up. Literally: look to the sky. Our founder noticed that many unemployed young people she met weren't short on talent. They were short on someone showing them the horizon. Our name is a daily reminder to lift your eyes, expand what you believe is possible, and aim higher than your current circumstances.

More than a classroom

At our base in Mount Edgecombe, young people have access to things many of their peers don't: a working computer room, reliable internet, and people who are willing to sit beside them and help. It's where a job search becomes a plan, a blank page becomes a CV, and a phone camera becomes a creative tool.

"Your qualification is the beginning, not the finish line. Your future won't be built on one thing you learned once. It will be built on your ability to keep learning what comes next."

Our story, as it happens

This website is our diary. We use it to record the workshops, the small wins, the visitors, the partnerships and the faces behind LookUp SA. Take a look at what's been happening.
